Day 1: Home land to India
Flight from Home to New Delhi. On arrival in New Delhi in the morning. Meet with a our representative at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Breakfast and rest time at the hotel. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi: sightseeing. Overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi- Leh
Early morning check-out from the hotel to catch a flight to Leh, which takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. Arrival at Leh Airport, situated at an altitude of 3505m, between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning. Upon arrival in Leh, meet with a Deertour representative and transfer to the guesthouse. Full day for acclimatization to altitude differences to avoid altitude sickness. Overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 3: Leh
Sightseeing in Leh. Highlight of the day is History of Ladakh. Visit to the old royal palace, the Avalokteshvara Temple, and the historic city of Leh. After lunch, visit Spituk Monastery. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 4: Leh-Thiksey & Shey
Early morning drive to Thikse Monastery to witness the morning prayer ceremony. A rare event starting before sunrise and performed by a group of monks. Breakfast at Chamba Monastery Restaurant. Highlight of the day: The Wheel of Life in Buddhism. Drive from Thikse to Shey. Visit Shey Palace. In the evening, hike to Shanti Stupa for a wonderful view of Leh and its surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 5: Leh Visit Oracle (Lhamo / Lhaba)
Focus of the day: Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism. In the morning, visit the oracle known for its healing powers. The oracle will answer all questions regarding the future and past. Then, drive to Stok Village to visit the royal palace and museum. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 6: Leh Hemis Meditation Cave
Day trip to Hemis Monastery. Highlight of the day: Introduction to meditation. A short walk on the “Götsang Path,” hidden deep in the mountains, where monks retreat for Mahamudra (Chhagchen) meditation for 3 years, 3 months, and 3 days. Some monks are known to repeat this meditation three times. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 7: Leh -Likir- Alchi
Highlight of the day: Explanation of the Mandala. Drive from Leh to Alchi Village near the Indus River (69km from Leh), famous for its 1000-year-old temple. Only a few monasteries in Ladakh are not located on mountain peaks, and Alchi Monastery is one of them. Then, visit Likir Monastery, located on the Leh-Srinagar highway. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse/camp near Alchi.
Day 8: Alchi-Lamayuru-Alchi
Day trip to Lamayuru Monastery through the Moonland Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse/camp near Alchi.
Day 9: Alchi-Rizong-Leh
Highlight of the day: Life of Buddhist monks and nuns. After breakfast at the camp, visit Rizong Monastery and Chulichan Nunnery. In the evening, drive from the beautiful Sham Valley back to Leh. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 10: Leh Visit Ladakhi Traditional Doctor ( Amchi)
Introduction to traditional Tibetan medicine in the morning – (probably with the local doctor (Amchi) and nun’s rights activist, Dr. Ani Palmo. Afternoon hike to Sankar Village, visit the local monastery. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 11: Leh -Nubra
Highlight of the day is Khardong la pass. Drive from Leh to Nubra Valley via the highest pass “Khardong La,” the world’s highest motorable road at an altitude of 5,359 meters above sea level. It offers breathtaking views of the Karakoram Mountains. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse/camp.
Day 12: Nubra
Highlight of the day is History of Nubra: Visit Diskit and Hundar villages (the most beautiful villages in Nubra). In this region, some of the double-humped camels, once used for the famous Silk Road, still live. Those interested can enjoy a short camel ride through the dunes. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse/camp.
Day 13: Nubra Panamic Hot Spring
Visit Sumur and Samstanling Monasteries, walk through the villages, and experience village life. Focus of the day: Karma and Rebirth in Buddhism. Visit the hot springs of Panamik, known for their medicinal effects. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse/camp.
Day 14: Nubra-Leh
Return from Nubra Valley to Leh. Afternoon and evening at leisure. There is an opportunity to attend a cultural show performed by professional artists. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Leh.
Day 15: Leh
Focus of the day: Last day for questions and answers about Buddhism. Afternoon leisure to shop for souvenirs from Ladakh. Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel in Leh.
Day 16: Leh-Delhi
In the morning, after breakfast at the guesthouse, timely transfer to Leh Airport. Flight back to Delhi. Meet with a Metta Insight Journey representative upon arrival in Delhi and transfer to the hotel. After lunch Delhi sightseeing. Farewell dinner in one of the local Restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 17: Delhi-back Home
After breakfast Timely transfer to the international airport. Flight back from New Delhi to Home.
