TRAVEL ITINERARY
Day 1: Departure to Delhi
Arrival Transfer to the hotel, breakfast, and rest. In the afternoon, visit the Old City of Delhi: Jama Masjid Mosque and Chandni Chowk. Overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi.
Day 2: Flight from Delhi to Leh
Early morning departure to the domestic airport. A 1-hour and 15-minute flight over the Himalayas and the Zanskar mountain region with breathtaking views of massive glaciers. Leh Airport, at 3,505m, is one of the highest airports in the world. Complete day for acclimatization to the altitude. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Leh
Visit the old Royal Palace, Avalokteshvara Temple, and the historic Old Town. In the afternoon, explore Leh’s bazaar. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Shey & Thiksey Monastery
Experience a monastery ceremony beginning before sunrise and performed by a group of monks. Breakfast at the Skazang Chamba Monastery Restaurant. Then, visit the monastery. Hike from Thiksey to Shey and experience village life. Visit Shey Palace and Ladakh’s largest Buddha statue. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Tsomoriri Lake (220 km – 5 hours drive)
From Leh, the route passes through the Indus Valley to the Rupshu plateau. After crossing Namshang La (4750m), reach Thadsang Karu Lake, from where it’s only a few kilometers to Tsomoriri. Camp near the village of Karzok, on the west bank of Tsomoriri, for the next two nights. Experience a fantastic natural spectacle of shapes and colors. Overnight stay at Tsomoriri Camp.
Day 6: Tsomoriri Lake
A whole day is available to explore the fantastic landscape around Tsomoriri and connect with nature. Visit the local Korzok monastery and share moments with the monks, perhaps over a cup of butter tea. Overnight stay at Tsomoriri Camp.
Day 7: Tso Moriri – Tso Kar – Leh
Return journey to another high-altitude lake, Tso Kar Lake. From here, drive over the Taglang La Pass (5300m) back to Leh.
Day 8: Leh – Likir & Alchi
Drive from Leh to the village of Alchi near the Indus River (69 km from Leh), famous for its 1000-year-old monastery. Pass by Basgo Fortress. Upon arrival in Alchi, visit the monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp in Alchi.
Day 9: Alchi – Lamayuru
A day trip to Lamayuru Monastery through the Moonland Valley, known for its beautiful landscape. Lamayuru Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh, offering the opportunity to see a Naropa (Tibetan Yogi Meditation Hall). Return to Leh. If time allows, stop at Spituk Monastery on the way to Leh. Overnight stay at Leh Hotel.
Day 10: Leh – Nubra
Highlights include driving from Leh to Nubra Valley via the “Khardong La” Pass, the highest motorable road in the world (5,359m). Along the way, encounter marmots & yaks and enjoy the breathtaking Himalayan landscape. Visit the monasteries Sumur and Samstanling in the afternoon. Walk through the villages and experience village life. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse/camp.
Day 11: Nubra
Visit the villages Diskit and Hundar. In this region, you can still encounter Bactrian camels, remnants of the famous Silk Road trade. Optionally, enjoy a short ride in the sand dunes of the valley. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse/camp.
Day 12: Nubra – Leh
Return journey from Nubra to Leh. Upon arrival in Leh, free time for yoga & meditation. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 13: Leh – Delhi
Flight from Leh to Delhi. City sightseeing in Delhi. Overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi.
Day 14: Delhi – Back Home
Check-out from the hotel after breakfast around 12:00 PM. Rest of the day free for shopping. Farewell dinner in the city in the evening. Transfer to the airport.
