Travel Itinerary:
Day 01: Home to New Delhi.
Arrival in Delhi on the morning of 02: Transfer to the hotel, breakfast, and rest. In the afternoon, visit Old Delhi: Jama Masjid Mosque and Chandni Chowk. Overnight stay in Delhi. Those who wish can arrive in Delhi a day before the start of the trip for more time to adjust to the climate and time difference.
Day 03: Delhi-Varanasi flight
After arriving in Varanasi around noon, we check into the hotel and rest. In the late afternoon, we visit the holy city of Varanasi on the Ganges, one of the oldest inhabited cities in India. For Hindus, bathing in the Ganges symbolizes the cleansing of sins and the path to a better rebirth. We take a walk through the city and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before spending the night at the hotel in Varanasi.
Day 04: Varanasi
Access to the Ganges River. Early in the morning, it is especially beautiful when the sun rises on the eastern bank of the Ganges. During a boat ride on the Ganges, passing by the numerous cremation sites and ghats, you can observe devout pilgrims from all over the country taking their ritual bath. In the afternoon, excursion to Sarnath, where Buddha first preached the four noble truths and the eightfold path to Nirvana 2600 years ago. Visit the Archaeological Museum, the Mahabodhi Buddha Temple, and a wildlife park. Finally, visit the ruins of Dhameka Stupa monastery. Dinner and overnight stay in Varanasi.
Day 05: Varanasi – Bodhgaya
Varanasi – Bodhgaya (Distance approx. 270 km, driving time in minibus approx. 5 hours). After breakfast, we leave Varanasi again. The day takes us to Bodhgaya, the holiest place for Buddhists. It is believed that Prince Siddhartha Gautama spent three years, three days, and nights sitting and meditating under a tree until he attained enlightenment. Overnight stay in Bodhgaya.
Day 06: Bodhgaya
Bodhgaya is one of the most important spiritual centers of Buddhism. Buddhists from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, Burma, Tibet, Bhutan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan have built 45 monasteries and temples here, and Buddhists from all over the world practice their meditation. We visit a selection and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Overnight stay in Bodhgaya.
Day 07: Bodhgaya – Kolkata (Night Train)
This morning we have time for ourselves. In the afternoon, we have to check out of our hotel. In the evening, we take our train from Gaya to Kolkata, an overnight train. We can have dinner in Bodhgaya and then later proceed to Gaya railway station. Overnight on the train!
Day 08: Kolkata
We arrive in Kolkata in the morning, check into the hotel, and rest. We take a walk through the city and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before spending the night at the hotel in Kolkata.
Day 09: Kolkata
After breakfast, we visit very interesting places such as the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, the Victoria Memorial Hall, the Howrah Bridge, the Birla Temple, Kumortuli, and the flower market. Finally, there is a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 10: Kolkata – Paro – Thimphu.
After break fast we drive to airport flight to Paro on arrivel we drive to Thimphu Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 11: Thimphu Festival (Thimphu Tsechu)
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 12: Thimphu
FOCUS OF THE DAY: Introduction to the art and culture of Bhutan. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 13: Thimphu – Punakha (approx. 85km / approx. 2.5 hours).
FOCUS OF THE DAY: The history of Bhutan. Overnight stay in Punakha.
Day 14: Punakha.
Overnight stay in Punakha.
Day 15 : Punakha – Paro.
Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 16 : Paro.
FOCUS OF THE DAY: Day hike to the “Tiger’s Nest Monastery.” Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 17: Paro – Delhi
Flight to back Home. Transfer to Paro International Airport for the flight to Delhi. Transfer to the international airport in Delhi for the flight back Home.
